The causes of mold growth and development:

Especially when it comes to your bathroom. The most common and obvious cause leading up to the mold growing is moisture. This can get especially bad when there isn’t proper ventilation and so the moisture collects inside the bathroom. This can be accelerated by a leaky appliance such as the sinks and pipes. Mold can actually also grow on many other surfaces such as wallpapers, fabric such as shower curtains, and within grout.

Prevention of mold growth inside the bathroom:

When the problem becomes serious, you’ll need to call in the professionals. But you can actually save yourself a lot of time and money by simply doing things to prevent mold growth in the first place. First of all, ensure that the bathroom has a proper ventilation system which should be used whenever you’re taking a shower and for about a half hour after you’re done. You can also use mildew resistant materials for your window and shower curtains, and wash them every few days.

Additionally, you should avoid leaving wet or used toilets on the floor of your bathroom, and make sure that the floor is scrubbed clean regularly, especially the grout between the tiles which is easily susceptible to attack. Clean the rugs every now and then and remember to take care of any appliance leaks as soon as you can. Finally, make sure the bathroom is cleaned regularly and extensively, with no water or soap residues left behind.

Removal of mold growth from inside the bathroom:

Before you start removing the mold, make sure you are following safety precautions. Cover up your hands, mouth, and any exposed parts of your body, and work in a well ventilated area so you don’t just keep on inhaling the mold spores.

Molds can be easily removed from the bathroom through extensive scrubbing of the area affected with some kind of mold repellent cleaner. However, once the mold has been removed, it is vital to allow the area time to dry completely. Any lingering moisture could bring the mold back. If the mold was growing in the grout on the floor, you can apply sealers to the grout, which will help prevent any mold growth in the grout later on.
